COMMISSION "EDUCATION"

The goal of the Commission "Education and further training" is to safeguard the required level, curriculum and content of P&O education and further training.
The members of the commission, who are mostly direct or indirectly involved in national P&O education, do that by means of:
Assembling data from the members and international agencies, such as ISPO;
Developing and elaborating inquiries;
Disseminating the results to the members in order to provide a regular update about the level, curriculum and content of P&O education and further training;
Surveying the future need for P&O professionals;
Publishing minimum standards for education and;
Developing educational module systems;
In addition special attention is paid to the implementation of business management courses to be included in the P&O education program.

These activities are sometimes carried out with the assistance of European Community programs (Leonardo da Vinci) or EU programs, special aiming for States that are not EU member States or will enter in the nearby future (for instance Hungary, Poland, Rumania, etc.).

The results of surveys and inquiries and the proposed outcomes are mostly discussed in the ISPO / INTERBOR Joint Education Committee (JEC) seeking for consensus agreement.

Today's priorities are:
The implementation of the university level education according to JEC standards (so called Category I) into the P&O branch in industrialised- as well as less- and non industrialised countries. Already a complete information package is available at ISPO International in Copenhagen (DK). E-mail: ispo@ispo.ws
The development of minimum standards for non-university level specially related to industrialised (European) countries;
The support and assistance of ongoing P&O educational developments in member countries; especially aimed to those countries that have no structured education at all;
The collaboration in the ISPO / INTERBOR Joint Education Committee;
The forwarding of information through the "INTERBOR UPDATE" and "INTERBOR NEWSFLASHES".
