THE GOAL OF INTERBOR

TO SAFEGUARD THE INTERESTS OF NATIONAL P&O ASSOCIATIONS
e.g. the P&O profession and individual P&O enterprises (SME's)
AT AN INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM AND LEVEL

HISTORY OF INTERBOR

INTERBOR was founded in 1958 in Brussels (Belgium).
At that time a group of people, mostly orthopaedic suppliers, discussed the position of the P&O profession in view of the globalisation; Brussels was then hosting the International World exhibition.
Their goal 'to achieve a better international understanding between colleagues and recognition of the P&O profession' is still to be found in our objective.
Today INTERBOR represents the interests of P&O associations from all over the world to an international level, i.e. European Union, International Red Cross, ISPO and many other agencies related to our working field.

INTERBOR believes in the obligation to ensure the interests of the P&O profession and workshops.

ACTIVITIES OF INTERBOR

In order to ensure the continuity of P&O professionals and workshops, the organisation pays attention by means of investigation to unsatisfactory developments in the branche .
Interbor achieves this through inquiries in the fields of Social-Economics, Education and Information.
The results of those inquiries, i.e. statistics and its yearly updates, are disseminated to the members. Very often these statistics and updates are of great importance and help to the national P&O member associations for their discussions with national stakeholders (governmental authorities, public- and private insurance companies, national associations for disabled people, etc.).

Social economic issues regard the investigation and comparison of social legislature in the EC Member States but also between countries of other continents.
In addition, a yearly economical update is disseminated to the members, such as the development and evaluation of price calculations.
Hereby is the quality of P&O devices always a main concern to us.

Besides the investigation and comparison of the level, content and curriculum of P&O education & (further-) training, the commission "Education" is also a transfer site to national member associations to ensure and/or to obtain educational guidelines as agreed in the Joint Education Committee between ISPO and INTERBOR. Click: Commission "Education".

Information is a key tool for us to keep our members up-to-date and to promote our view points to related P&O agencies or supra national policy makers such as the EC, NAFTA and ASEAN.
In order to be able to react as quick as possible we mostly use electronic ways of communication (Internet, E-mail, web-site, etc.).

The organisation is heavily involved in non- and less industrialised countries (Africa, East European countries, South-America, etc.).
A special programme has been developed by INTERBOR to ensure the continuity of P&O appliances in those countries.
The programme is called: "PEDECO" and embraces the collaboration of P&O professionals from industrialised countries with individuals and institutes from non- or less industrialised countries (click: "PEDECO").

The INTERBOR office is THE KEY for communication between our members and the organisation.
Besides the normal daily organisational administration the office is an encyclopaedia for questions or problems. If at all possible the office will give an immediate answer but in more complicated issues it will be presented to the concerning commission and/or Board.
Furthermore it acts for the members as a monitoring and lobbying institute towards supra national agencies. Clickcontact us
